Members-only clubs and school chess programmes 9
About this list
Some of the chess around Lisbon happens behind a school gate or a membership card. International schools in Carcavelos, Linhó and central Lisbon run chess clubs for their own pupils, as do schools in Parede and Carnaxide and a school grouping in Lisbon where classes start at pre-school age.
A private college in Lisbon has its own chess club too, a sports club in Odivelas holds Saturday morning sessions for its members, and a bank's sports and cultural club keeps a chess section. Taking part usually means enrolling at the school or joining the club, so these matter most to families choosing a school and to members already inside.
