About this list
Lisbon's outdoor chess tables stand in parks and gardens across the city: Campo Grande, Quinta das Conchas in Lumiar, the Olivais urban park and the Vale do Silêncio, the southern part of Bela Vista, Rio Seco in Ajuda, and a square in front of a secondary school in Areeiro. The city council set them up as free tables for anyone who wants a game.
Bring your own set and, for a timed game, a clock. On some Sundays the Lisbon Gambit meetup group has played brunch chess at the tables of Jardim Fernando Pessa around midday, with a bar and toilets close by; players bring a board if they have one. Weather and park opening hours decide when a game is possible.
