Children are welcome at several places to play around Lisbon, mostly clubs that pair a weekly club night with classes for young players. In Vila Nova de Caparica the Peões club runs a youth chess school on Tuesday and Thursday early evenings, and the Sintra chess club has listed classes for children and young players, some of them online. Grupo de Xadrez Alekhine in Avenidas Novas teaches young players on Sundays and held a youth tournament to open the new season.

In Benfica a neighbourhood club teaches children and teenagers and takes guests on its club night, and the Campo de Ourique athletic club publishes classes by age, though its Friday sessions were suspended for building works. A Thursday chess evening in a bar and the EDP staff club also accept children. Ask about age groups, fees and whether a parent should stay.
