Chess classes for children 15
About this list
Children can learn chess around Lisbon in clubs, academies and at school. The residents' association in Telheiras runs a chess school for young children through to adults, on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings, and the music conservatoire in Rio de Mouro teaches children with a national master. Clubs in Vila Nova de Caparica, Sintra, Avenidas Novas, Benfica and Campo de Ourique run youth classes by age and level.
Many schools teach chess in their own buildings: the Salesians in Lisbon, a parish centre in Estoril, Colégio Oriente in Parque das Nações, St. Julian's in Carcavelos and the German School, whose after-school group for the first grades is taught in Portuguese. These classes are usually for the school's own pupils. For practice, the district association's school tournaments and the city's Joga Lisboa events take young players.
